HOUSE music producer and vocalist Siyabonga “Buntu Africa” Phiyose vows to keep house music alive during the domination of amapiano.

Buntu Africa from Mtubatuba, KZN has released his house music single titled Inkwari featuring DJ Active while he is cooking his debut EP to be released in October.

The 28-year-old believed the house genre is still in style, regardless of whether many people are in love with amapiano music that has recently dominated the charts.

Buntu Africa told Daily Sun house was still fashionable and he would make sure it didn’t disappear in the dominating wave of any other genre. “I have been producing and loving house music for a long time and I love it, it is a part of my music life because I’m also a house music vocalist.

“I started producing house music in 2009 when I was still at high school in KZN. Then in 2017 I moved to Joburg for greener pastures where I worked with the Teddy Bears group.”

He said he didn’t have a problem with the amapiano genre but his heart was stuck on house music. “To accommodate my fans who love amapiano I will include one amapiano song on my EP to also showcase that I’m a flexible producer who does not limit himself.

“I will first release the house single song and I will work with top maskandi star Scebi ‘Inkosiyamagcokama’ Dlamini as the vocalist to spice it up and make it different to ordinary house music,” he said.

He has released five house singles since 2017 including Thonga Lami featuring Infinity Boys. He also released his debut music video titled Empilweni Ngihambile in 2019.

Buntu Africa said he has produced and made music beats for many artists including Ernest Msibi, who is known as Chester in the music industry.

He has also appeared on our small screens in popular shows like Generations: The Legacy and Rhythm City as an extra and still wants to pursue an acting career.

“I’m planning to take music and acting as my careers but music will be my first choice. I see myself playing lead roles on soapies or movies

“Being closer to Ernest who is a legendary actor and legendary musician, I know will help me to go far,” said the musician.
