MUSIC fans know her as a gospel singer who delivers powerful praise through songs.
But what they don’t know is that she can also act.
Award-winning gospel star Lebo Sekgobela is now an actress.
She has landed a leading role in the drama series Grace, that will be streamed on YouTube subscribing channel RITEVAC TV from 28 November.
Lebo plays the role of a pastor’s wife and Grace’s mother, Ruth. This is her first acting gig.
The Lion of Judah hitmaker said when producers approached her for the show, she was puzzled because she didn’t know anything about acting.
“I had never acted before. All I know is music. But, they told me I will attend acting classes because they wanted someone like me for the role. I was scared and nervous. And because of Covid-19, I had to attend online,” said Lebo.

She said Grace was about Christianity and family values.
“Sometimes, we speak about our dreams only to find that our families don’t support us. That’s what Grace is about – family, Christianity and faith. What I also like is that it is musical. As a musician, I can relate,” said Lebo.
Producers, directors and fellow cast members were also supportive, according to the singer.
“My fellow cast member Maduvha Madima helps a lot since she’s an experienced actress. She is wonderful, amazing and welcoming. I think I can make it on TV now. And, I’m thinking of taking more classes to advance my talent. Yes, this acting gig has proven that a human being can do anything if they put their mind and effort to it.”
Lebo will be acting alongside former Joyous Celebration member Siyakha Tshayela.
She said the series was ongoing as they were still filming more episodes.
