MEET the new face of Channel O’s Lockdown House Party, Msakazi.
The radio and TV presenter, whose real name is Mpumi Mlambo, joined the show in its second season.
She took over from Ntando Duma, who was hosting alongside Robot Boii in season one.
Speaking to SunBuzz, Msakazi said she’d always wanted to host the show from the first season.
“Like most people in Mzansi, I was watching the party and got interested. So I sent Shimza a message on social media, but unfortunately he didn’t respond.
“When the second season started, I noticed that Ntando wasn’t hosting the show anymore, so I decided to try my luck.

“I took an audition tape of myself and shared it on Twitter. I asked people to share it until Shimza and PH saw it. They finally saw it and sent me a message. “The rest is history,” she said.
The media personality said it wasn’t easy at first, but she’s gotten the hang of it now.
Msakazi said: “The first week was hectic for me. I made a lot of mistakes.
“The people I work with are amazing. They’ve been welcoming and helpful.
“It’s been a great journey. I thank Shimza, PH and Sibu Mabena for giving me this opportunity.”
Msakazi is a presenter on Power FM. Her radio career started at Voice of Wits while she was studying media studies in 2015.
“I host the graveyard show, Power Lounge, which airs from Friday to Sunday from 10pm to 2am.
“It’s just a music show where we interview musicians and talk about music.”
The Lockdown House Party is not Msakazi’s first TV gig. She was with Joburg TV from 2018 to last year.
“The Lockdown House Party is my first gig on a big scale,” she said.
“Joburg TV was just online TV, where we learnt how to script and speak to the camera. It actually trained me for what I’m doing right now.”
Msakazi said she’s working on starting her own YouTube channel.
