GENEVA is taking on the male-dominated hip hop scene.
The artist, whose real name is Nthabeleng Kondile, started rapping in 2009 while she was still in high school.
The 25-year-old from Rocklands in Mangaung said she kept pushing boundaries to make a name for herself.
“I’m busy with my first album and have so far released singles.
“It’s not easy as a young woman in the male-dominated hip hop world, but this has not stopped me from working hard.
“Being a female hip hop artist is not easy as I have to work twice as hard to prove myself and get bookings.
“I also encountered other challenges from my male counterparts, but I don’t let them deter me.
“I keep working hard,” she said.
Nthabeleng broke into the local music scene after she met Teboho Mabote, known as Mr SPL.
He signed her to his Bona Ke Mang music company.
She has since soared and has opened for acts such as Fifi Cooper and A-Reece.
She said rapper Rouge is her idol.
“I just released a new single titled Good Thang, which is playing on local radio stations.
“I will be shooting a music video soon,” she said.
