DURBAN Gen started off on a high note, but its numbers dropped a few months after the show started airing on e.TV in 2020.

Now insiders said the numbers have never stopped dropping and the managers have been trying to add some spark to regain the high viewership.

Daily Sun has learnt that they have added two funnymen to the cast.

One insider said: “The production is trying to attract TV fans. They have taken Simphiwe Majozi, who plays Sbu on Uzalo. They believe he has charisma and the potential of attracting TV fans to the show. We all know people love Simphiwe and his funny side, so maybe he will serve the purpose.”

It’s not clear if Simphiwe will leave Uzalo.

Another insider said the show also added Sibusiso Madondo, known as Abednego on Mzansi Magic’s Isithembiso.

“Yes, these two actors are part of Durban Gen’s cast now. Producers believe they will add spark and the show will gain popularity.”

Simphiwe and Sibusiso referred Daily Sun to Durban Gen spokeswoman Nomfundo Zondi, who said she would check the facts with the production team and revert back to the paper.
