GOSPEL singer Jumbo Nyangiwe has become involved in the war of words between controversial maskandi star Mthandeni Manqele and hip-hop artist, Big Zulu.
Mthandeni shocked music fans when he took to Facebook on Tuesday, 3 August and called Big Zulu papa Penny Zulu and referred to Jumbo as Durban fatty.
He wrote: “As I said before, I don’t have a rival in the maskandi music genre. I’m standing alone on top of the mountain doing what I like. If you’re going to choose papa Penny Zulu out of the crowd and call him my rival, no. You can leave me alone and support a Durban fatty called Jumbo. I’m not a bum, I’m a man.”
Music fans were left confused and said Mthandeni’s only problem with Jumbo seemed to be that he’s fat.
A furious Big Zulu didn’t waste time in responding. He shared Mthandeni’s Facebook post and wrote: “If you are going to be a man of war on Facebook, make noise.

“You will not call me papa Penny when we meet in person. You are not a man. You are a yellow bone sisi Dudu.”
Big Zulu told the SunTeam Mthandeni said things online that he wouldn’t say to his face. Jumbo, who has featured many maskandi artists on his songs, said he was still shocked as he never fought with Mthandeni.
“I thought we knew each other and respected each other. I will not respond to his attacks because it might embarrass him,” he said.
“I suspect maybe Mthandeni was angered when he saw me with his rival Khuzani Mpungose in pictures that circulated on Facebook.”
The fight between Big Zulu and Mthandeni started in 2019, when Big Zulu asked to feature Mthandeni and Khuzani on a song.
Mthandeni refused and started attacking him.
