“IF IT wasn’t for my fans, I’d have left the industry ages ago.”
This was what Afro soul singer Donald Moatshe told Daily Sun this week as he celebrated 10 years in the music industry.
The 34-year-old from Kraalhoek, North West, said: “I think there are two kinds of artists: one is loved by the industry and the other is loved by fans. I’m loved by fans.”
On Monday he took to Twitter to thank his fans for making him relevant. He released the single Ngiyazfela featuring Mlindo the Vocalist in June, and Mina Nawe last month.
“These songs are for people who made me work hard with the love they have been showing me. If it wasn’t for them, I would not be releasing music,” he said.
Donald said he was also grateful to some of his industry friends who never gave up on him and made sure he got gigs. He said he was putting the final touches to his new album, Name Is.
“This album is about someone I love. It’s close to my heart.
“I’ll be taking fans to the launch on the sixth next month.”s
Donald said he’s busy preparing for the Klerksdorp Spring Festival next Saturday.
