House DJ and music producer Mbulelo Khathaza, popularly known as LeGoody, has a heart of gold.

The talented media personality has started an initiative where he gives away school shoes to underprivileged kids in his community.

LeGoody, who started out with giving away just 20 pairs of shoes, told Daily Sun he saw a huge gap in his community.

“Last year the pandemic worsened the situation. People lost their jobs and because of that some homes were left with no breadwinners at all. It also breaks my heart to see children going to school with torn shoes on cold winter days, so I decided to assist with the little I had. I took the money I got from my bookings and then I bought the shoes,” said LeGoody.

“When I started out, I never thought this project would turn out to be this big because the initiative has inspired other people from other provinces to join in. Recently, we got a big donation of 1 000 shoes from Checkers, which will be distributed to poverty-stricken schools around Mzansi,” he said.

LeGoody said he has also ventured into providing school uniform, especially jerseys as it is winter.

“On our last donation we also donated jerseys, kitchen appliances and food. If anyone out there is willing to join and contribute to our beautiful initiative that is aimed at ensuring that our future leaders stay at school and don’t drop out because of lack of resources, they are welcome to do so. They can reach out to me on social media and then we can discuss a way forward,” he said.
