GOSPEL artists are mourning the death of Israel Mosehla.
News of his death broke yesterday but the cause was still unknown.
Israel, who was born in Soweto, had been in the industry for 20 years and was discovered by Sipho “Big Fish” Makhabane.
The 50-year-old was known for hit songs such as Alpha and Omega, Ke Utlwa Lerato and FatherWe Adore You.
Big Fish said he was heartbroken when he heard the news on Sunday night.
“Whenever we were together, people would say we were twins. I’m heartbroken that my twin is gone. I really can’t deal with this,” he said.
Big Fish said he spoke to Israel last week and he said he had a bad flu, but he was starting to feel better. He said they worked together on the Mpumalanga Can Sing talent show last year.
“I will remember him for his lovely spirit, humbleness and as a worshipper,” he said.

Former Joyous Celebration member Sabata Masoka said he was shattered.
“We were planning to do a duet together, but the Covid-19 lockdown hampered our plans.
“I’ll do a tribute song to be released around Easter.
“He was the most humble person I’d ever met. Let’s not lose hope. God is in control.”
Rebecca Malope wrote on Facebook: “What a sad morning. What a great loss. May your soul rest in peace, Pastor Israel Mosehla. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers.”
Gospel musician Dr Tumi wrote: “Sincerest condolences to the Mosehla family. We will fondly remember Pastor Israel. His ministry and legacy will continue to impact lives for generations.”
Gospel artist Luyanda Ramatswi, wrote: “Lately in my prayers, I ask if God doesn’t want us anymore as we die every minute.”
Gospel singer Hlengiwe Mhlaba was still in shock.
“He was the best worshipper. We’ve lost a giant in the gospel industry.”
