Rising star Dash Hesh has released a new single titled Isinkwa.
This is a stepping stone for the talented musician, whose real name is Samuel Mofokeng.
He told SunBuzz the song was inspired by his mum, who’s a single parent.
“I’ve seen her work so hard to put food on the table and as a kid, I didn’t understand why she always complained about how we should appreciate the food she brings, even if it’s just bread,” he said.
“But now that I am older, I realise the pain and the struggle she went through just to feed us. That’s why I named the song Isinkwa, which can be loosely translated to bread, as my mum would constantly tell us we’ll grow and realise how hard it is to buy bread.”
The Limpopo-born musician said working on the song wasn’t easy.
“I had to relive the hard memories that my mother went through to raise us. But I’m glad I could honour her on a song.
“I hope this song will be well received and gives hope to the parents who work tirelessly to put food on the table to support their children,” said Dash Hesh.

The 26-year-old singer, whose music is highly influenced by kwaito, said he will soon be releasing a self-titled album.
“I’m working on an album and it will be called Andile Amakhwenkwe, meaning the boys have expanded. It’s taken from the name I’m called by at home – Andile,” he said.
“I am giving it my all with this album and it will be explosive. I’m not just focusing on one genre, but a variety. Spiritually, it’s going to heal a lot of people as it’s empowering.”
Although Dash Hesh is optimistic about the future, he said that his journey has not been easy and still isn’t.
“I used to look at music videos on TV and think it’s easy. But now that I’m an artist, I’ve realised how hard it is to stay consistent in the industry. One of the lessons I’ve learnt is to treat myself and my music like a brand.”
