DANCER Limpopo Boy and his partner, Rush Mambanana, left tavern owner Muzenda Masimba fuming and disappointed.

They were booked to perform at popular Mazambane Tavern in Mokopane, Limpopo, in April but pulled a no-show.

“Singer Makhadzi once came with them to perform. Since then, we have been in contact talking about how they can come back and entertain,” said Muzenda.

He said the pair called and told him they were done with a gig in Polokwane, and could make their way to his place the following day.

“We agreed on the amount, which was set at R7 000, but I decided to give them a deposit of R3 500. I told them they would receive the remaining amount in cash before their performance,” he said.

The owner tried to call them the following day to find out about their whereabouts, but their cellphones were off.

“When I finally got hold of them, they told me they had forgotten. I demanded that they reimburse me, but they said we should rather arrange for another day to perform.

“But, they still haven’t pitched or returned the money,” he said.

Muzenda said the pair’s no-show affected him greatly.

“I had created posters and distributed them on social media, and people came in their numbers.

“It was terrible and I ended up looking like a liar.

“I tried to redeem myself by inviting another popular act, but people did not come in numbers like the last time as they might have believed I was using false advertising to make sure they come to my place.”

When contacted by the SunTeam, Limpopo Boy, whose real name is Mahlatse Thoka, denied receiving the money from Muzenda.

“I never received the money. He never paid us. I have nothing to say. He can proceed with whatever he wants to do.”
