UP-AND-COMING singer Sabelo “DaMusiq” Mpanza heals broken hearts with his music.
The Afro-pop star said he lost his mum at the age of seven and since then he never stopped singing.
The 20-year-old has released a song called Ngiyakucela.
He said: “This is a love song, released in March.
“I composed it and it was produced by DJ Lace. I also featured another up-and-coming artist, Mr Vocalist,” said DaMusiq.
“The song is about a man who is scared of expressing his feelings to a woman. Instead he ends up telling his friend that he has a strong crush on someone. The song is meant to encourage people to freely express their love.
“Last year I also released another love song titled Inhliziyo Yami.
“It was also produced by DJ Lace and it was composed by me.
“The song is about a man looking for a girlfriend. It’s a mix of the Afro-pop and maskandi.”

Both songs are available on digital platforms. He describes his music as a tool to heal heavy hearts.
“I was born in Ulundi, KZN. When I was seven years old, my mother passed away. At that age I was too young to understand everything but the pain was there.
“As a child I couldn’t express myself so I started singing to comfort myself. Since then I never stopped singing,” he said.
In 2019 he released his debut single, Uzunglinde.
“When I started singing I did maskandi songs but I later changed to Afro-pop. I can do all genres but I chose this one because it talks to me, and I believe it easily gets to people’s hearts.”
His goal is to release a full album.
“I have already composed a lot of songs but I need money to go to the studio. Had it not been for lockdown, I’d have made more money from the gigs and released the album.”
