ACCORDING to Fikile Mlomo, the struggles she has endured have forced her to find a church that speaks to her spirit.

The gospel star ended up joining Isithelo Sika Jehova, started by controversial inyanga, businessman and presenter Dr Khehlelezi.

Although he has been accused on social media of performing rituals to help gospel stars get rich, Fikile said she did not join the church for the wrong reasons.

“My fans know the tears I’ve cried and the pain I’ve been through since I was a little girl. Ever since I joined the church, I’ve been in a good space,” she said.

“Being raised by my grandmother after my mother died was not easy.

“I had to grow up fast. My mother was HIV-positive and I had to nurse her until she died. She has a family but they never helped me.

“When I got into music, I was robbed by the people I trusted.

“I went through miscarriages and abuse in previous relationships. As broken as I was, I needed a church I could call my spiritual home.”

Fikile said when she first met Dr Khehlelezi, she was struck by how warm he was.

She said she had also found love after previous relationships failed.

“I’m in a relationship and I’m happy. My partner and I are not planning to marry or start a family. We are happy as girlfriend and boyfriend.

“Happiness is what is important. There are people who have rings on their fingers but they go to bed with tears every day. I don’t want to rush things. I am enjoying my happiness.”

Fikile also revealed that she never knew her father. “My mother told me my father died just after I was born.

“I don’t know his family and I never looked for each other,” she said.

“It’s clear that they don’t care about me. If they cared, they would have looked for me. Why should I bother looking for them?”
