IF you were wondering where Candy Mokwena is, rest assured that she’s still here.
The singer, popularly known for her hit song Tsa Mandebele, has a new album titled Still Here.
She released it under her new record company, Mosekedi Entertainment.
Candy decided to go independent and run her own music affairs after 27 years in the music industry.
She likens her move from Kalawa Jazmee Records to that of a new makoti who leaves her parents’ house to live with her husband.

Candy said she learnt how to sharpen her horizon in writing, singing, performing, producing and running the music business.
“It was not easy, but I know what I stand for. I stayed true to myself, respected the craft, remained humbled and kept dreaming.
“Eventually, God led me here,” she said.
Her previous album, Hupenyu Unengu Viri, won the Best Traditional Album at the Samas last year.
It was also nominated in the same category, representing Mzansi at the All Africa Music Awards in the same year.
The album was her last with Kalawa, where she was the aunty of the stable for nine years.
It’s not surprising that it did well.
She worked with producers such as DJ Clap of Uhuru, Pex Africah, Dr Frank from Nigeria, and DJ Junior SA.
On the same album, she featured Sho Madjozi, Benny Mayengani, Malatji, Makhadzi, Bekezela from Zimbabwe, and Noni D from Nigeria. Candy is not only a singer, she’s an actress, too.
She’s played mayor Joyce Maluleke on My BEE kasie stories, and featured on Giyani: Land of Blood as a shebeen queen.
She also appeared on Rhythm City and Isidingo.
The new album was released in March. It has 10 tracks and features Skeem Saam actor Clement Maosa and Mafikizolo dancer Cedrick Tsongaboy.
It was produced by Mr Brown, Bekezela, Fumani Mahlale, Drum Pope and Candy as producer.
Her album is available on all digital music platforms
