AFRO pop duo Blaq Diamond celebrated their life-long dream on Monday night when they were awarded four platinum plaques.
The Summer Yo Muthi hitmakers were celebrated at Riboville Hotel in Midrand after reaching multi-platinum status for their album Umuthi and for some singles.
The 2020 album, certified six-times platinum, also has three multi-platinum singles.
Love Letter was certified platinum thrice, Ibhanoyi four times, and Summer Yo Muthi twice.
Their controversial record label, Ambitiouz Entertainment, congratulated the stars, who dropped hit after hit in the past two years. The label took to social media platforms, saying the two were the most hard-working duo they knew.
Ndumiso Mdletshe and Sphelele Dunywa also celebrated their wins on Instagram. Ndu said this had been their dream from when they were still in grade 8.

He posted a picture of himself smiling at Sphelele with the caption: “I was saying ‘gazi lami, we did it’ a moment we dreamt of it in grade 8. Siyabonga South Africa,” he wrote.
Speaking about the receiving the plaques, the duo said they weren't surprised about receiving them.
“It is really not that much of a surprise to us that we received these plaques because we have been putting in the work. We have worked hard to be where we are today, and we feel like this is the time for us to shine," the said.
"Shout out to all the people who have been supporting Blaq Diamond music. We are very happy that we got our plaques, the hard work is evident. Thank you to Ambitiouz and the Team behind us, we are grateful,” they continued.
