THE performing arts in Limpopo has been on pause since last year when the coronavirus pandemic hit Mzansi.
But it’s now being revived.
Thabang Ramaru, the director of stage drama Too Deep, is delighted that they’ve have managed to open the floor for more stage dramas.
On Friday evening, Thabang hosted the show at the Library Gardens in Polokwane.
He said: “It has been difficult for everyone as we’ve been prohibited from doing anything as per Covid-19 regulations. We would be far today and developed acting careers from different areas in Limpopo.
“I’m so pleased that on the first day we opened the floor, we received so much support that we were not expecting. We believe that the regulations will soon be eased so that we can have more people coming in,” he said.

Among the attendees were Buhle Maseko, known as Nimza from Skeem Saam, veteran actor Tshukudu Manaka and an acting crew from Mahuma Group.
Too Deep is about a female pupil, Mponeng, who is in grade 12. She lost her parents in a tragedy at a mine and she later had to look after her siblings.
As the pain of losing her parents went too deep, she attempted to commit suicide but it failed.
She was then recruited to join gangsters and was made to sell drugs to fellow pupils at the school by her teacher, Zomba. The name Zomba was known to everyone, including the school principal, but they didn’t know who it was.
It later came out that the drug lord Zomba is the teacher at the school. The principal didn’t waste time and called the police, who arrested him for the illegal sale of drugs, human trafficking and rape.
Zomba was also sleeping with Mponeng, who later fell pregnant with his baby but had a miscarriage.
Assistant director Tumelo Makgotla said the support they got still feels unreal, and that there were people who just bought tickets but didn’t come to watch it.
