The charges against Orlando Pirates player, Thembinkosi Lorch, have been provisionally withdrawn by the Randburg Magistrates Court.
Lorch was charged with assault by his girlfriend, Fundiswa Mathithibala in September last year. He was released on R2000 bail.
NPA spokeswoman Phindi Mjonondwane confirmed the charges against the 27-year-old were provisionally withdrawn on Tuesday 26 January.

“Lorch, through his legal team, submitted representations to the Senior Public Prosecutor (SPP) and after considering such representations, the SPP took a decision to provisionally withdraw the prosecution against Lorch,” it continued.
Mjonondwane said the police were instructed to conduct further investigations that will guide the NPA on whether or not to proceed with prosecuting Lorch.
