“I HAVE never taken my awards home for my parents to see them.”
Award-winning rapper Emtee said this last night on MTV Base’s Behind The Label.
The episode dealt with record label Ambitiouz Entertainment, which made headlines after a number of top artists left.
NTSIKI: I'M HORNY ALL THE TIME!
Artists featured were Emtee, Priddy Ugly, Gigi LaMayne, Fifi Cooper and Benchmarq.
Emtee, who shook the entertainment industry when he announced in August that he was leaving the label, got a lot off his chest.
He said none of his trophies were ever with him for more than 24 hours and the label took credit for all his achievements.
“I remember my first win was at the South African Hip Hop Awards. I was very happy and everyone was congratulating me while I had the award in my hand,” he said.
“The boss man then comes up behind and says, ‘Give me what’s mine’. When I checked, the award had my name on it.”
Emtee said on Twitter last month he wanted his awards back.
KELLY'S SISTER: I OWE SENZO MEYIWA FAMILY NOTHING!
“I reached the point where it couldn’t go on any further. I have two kids and I can’t allow people who don’t even know me to dictate my life. My kids are going to look at me one day and ask why I didn’t stand up for myself.”
When called for comment, Ambitiouz Entertainment CEO Kgosi Mahumapelo said he was asked to appear on the show but declined. He wouldn’t comment on the other allegations.
