LEGENDARY ACTRESS CONNIE Chiume has lost her mum.

The Black Panther star shared the news on her Instagram page yesterday.

She told Daily Sun that the family was coping as best as they could.

She said: “Today was her birthday and she would have turned 98 years old. Apart from her being old, she was sick and in hospital.”

Connie said her mother’s health had deteriorated since January, and she had been in and out of hospital.

“I took her on holiday but I noticed she had no appetite.

“It got worse while we were away from home.

“When we got back I took her to a doctor where we discovered she had cancer in her lungs which had spread to her bones.”

Connie said at that point there was nothing the doctors or hospital could do for her mum.

“They discharged her into our care where they asked us to make sure she was comfortable,” said Connie.

“The news did not come as a shock as we were already expecting the worst.”

When asked how she would remember her mum, who was affectionately known as MaNdlovu, she said: “She was not just my mother. She was also my friend. We spoke about everything and I will remember a lot of wonderful things about her.” Many fans of the actress have flooded her Instagram page with messages of condolences.
