ACTOR Israel Matseke-Zulu has exited popular TV show Gomora.
According to the actor, who plays the role of Don on the show, he exited due to health reasons.
“The reason I am leaving the show is because I am sick, I started becoming sick shortly after I joined Gomora and I decided to leave the show because I saw it was becoming difficult for me because I can’t walk.
“Towards the end when I was shooting my last scene, I was using a wheelchair to get on set,” he said.
The actor, who has been part of the show behind the scenes since its inception and later on screen, said making the decision to leave the show was not easy.
“Performance is my life, this was one of the hardest decisions that I had to take, but I saw that my health matters the most and I need to recover. It was also hard because people had fallen in love with my character and I see some of them are protesting saying they are going to stop watching,” he said.
Israel shared that the health condition he’s facing is gangrene and had made one of his legs immobile.
“I will recover, but not any time soon,” he shared.
He joined the popular drama series in September, and he was introduced to us as Teddy’s (played by Sicelo Buthelezi) biological father on the show.
Daily Sun reached out to Mzansi Magic for comment and Nomsa Philiso, channel director for local entertainment channels at M-Net, said: “Mzansi Magic confirms that Israel Zulu will no longer form part of the cast of Gomora.”
