THE FACTS

SPHIWE Nzuza from Dobsonville, Soweto, said someone opened a clothing account using his personal details.

Sphiwe doesn’t know who did this and has contacted the store to tell them his personal details have been fraudulently used.

He was told he’d be contacted after investigations, but to date no one has reached out.

The account has been handed over to attorneys for debt collecting.

They insist he should take responsibility.

ADVICE

You need to act quickly and open a case of fraud at your police station.

Take the case number and supporting affidavit to the store to prove you’re not responsible for the account.

You can then contact Home Affairs to alert them of the fraud and police will help arrest anyone responsible.

You will then be able to press charges against them or even bring a civil claim against them.
