Kaizer Chiefs defender Dillan Solomons has opened up about the mental challenges the team is facing amidst a series of underwhelming performances.
Having moved from Moroka Swallows two seasons ago, Solomons has struggled to secure a consistent spot in the starting lineup, contributing as a rotational player with 13 appearances across all competitions to date.

The recent downturn in Amakhosi's fortunes, highlighted by a three-match losing streak and a 1-0 defeat to Richards Bay that pushed them out of the top eight, has only compounded the team's difficulties.
During a press briefing on Thursday, Solomons shared his insights into the team's current predicament.
“Mentally, it’s been tough trying to figure out how we go about things. How we are going to try and win games. I think for us, it’s just when we concede I think that’s been our main problem,” Solomons told the media on Thursday.
Solomons further elaborated on the issue, stating, “I think conceding has been our mental block where we concede and we can’t get back to win games, you know. I think that’s been something, like losing the last game.
“I think we created the most chances in the first half and once Richards Bay scored, we just couldn’t get anywhere close to the goal, so I think that’s something we need to work on,” Solomons said.
Despite these challenges, Solomons believes that improving the team's offensive capabilities could be key to turning their fortunes around. He emphasized the need for better support for strikers like Ashley Du Preez and Christian Saile, suggesting that enhancing the quality of crosses and midfield creativity could make a significant difference.
“I think it’s just mental strength. I think that’s where we lack, but I feel like also we need to create more chances for our strikers, me included.
“I think that’s (about) putting in better crosses for our strikers to get onto and then our midfielders creating better chances for our strikers to score. So, I think that’s something that we need to work on,” Solomons said.
As Kaizer Chiefs prepare to face SuperSport United in Polokwane at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening, both teams are in search of a much-needed victory to break their respective runs of poor form.
For the Soweto giants, this upcoming match presents an opportunity to address their mental and tactical challenges head-on, with a hope of climbing back into the top half of the table.
