Cavin Johnson has gone into the home stretch of his reign as interim head coach at Kaizer Chiefs with plenty damage control to do as he prepares to pass the relay baton.
Johnson is making way at the end of the month for a new coach who will be tasked with taking over at Chiefs after nine years of trophy darkness.

The baton will be passed after a season in which Chiefs will unlikely go above seventh place at best in the DStv Premiership and possibly be outside the top 8 at worst.
While his winning percentage is below what Giovanni Solinas achieved since he took over in October last year, there is yet another concern for Johnson.
The 65-year-old needs to avoid making his home stretch of 10 games the worst of all the coaches that have been in charge since Chiefs last won a trophy.
Johnson has won once (plus four defeats and one draw) in his last six but has another four to play which will be against TS Galaxy, AmaZulu, Polokwane City, and Cape Town Spurs.
What Johnson’s predecessors did in their last 10 games at Chiefs shows that Gavin Hunt had the least wins with two while Steve Komphela had the best return with five wins.
Molefi Ntseki won three, had five defeats and drew twice in his last 10 games in charge before being sacked last October.
Arthur Zwane won four, lost five and drew one, Stuart Baxter won four, lost four and drew two while Hunt won two, lost five, and drew thrice.
Ernst Middendorp won three, lost four, and drew three, Solinas won four, lost four, and drew twice with Komphela on five wins, three defeats, and one draw.

This means Johnson can either go out in shame if he fails to win again this season or push himself to a strong finish of being with the best finishers if he wins all four remaining games.
Chiefs host TS Galaxy at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday.
