“I ENJOY driving my car, except for the few people who always overtake in wrong places and cut me off. They put all of us in danger. Some people simply don’t respect the lives of others.
“I think we need to talk about safety every chance we get until it registers in their heads.”
That’s what clever driver Freddy Molatlhegi believes.
Q: What car do you own?
A: A 1.5 Honda Ballade Luxline.
Q: When did you buy this car?
A: Last year, so it is still fresh.
Q: What do you love about it?
A: Yoh, so many things! It is strong, it is easy to drive and it is quite a performer on the road.
Q: Is this your first car?
A: No, I first had an Opel Corsa and then a City Golf.
Q: Why did you choose a silver grey colour?
A: This colour is very cool and it comes out shining when the car is clean and polished.
Q: What features in the car excite you most?
A: It’s got a DVD player, which I use to enjoy music.
But I also love the shape and design of my car.
Q: Would you change anything?
A: Not really, it is perfect.
Q: How far have you driven in this car?
A: I have been to Lesotho and back, and the car is amazing on the open road. It never gives me any problems.
Q: Would you allow another person to drive it?
A: Not a chance. I’m the only allowed to drive this car. I do not think another driver will take care of it in the same way I do.
Q: What do you think of other Mzansi drivers?
A: Most of them are bad – they do not have the patience that’s required on the road.
I think you must be tolerant and early all the time if you’re going to drive. I have witnessed several incidents of road rage. It is terrible and causes big traffic jams. My secret is to leave early so that there is no need to trouble other people on the road.
But when you’re running late, everyone seems to be delaying you on purpose, and that’s obviously not true.
