MEET Mogorosi Mangonyane, originally from Pitsane Village in Botswana, who now lives in Pimville, Soweto.
We asked him about his ride, a Toyota RunX.
Q: When did you buy this car?
A: I bought it in 2013. I have always wanted to own a RunX and I am very happy to be driving one now.
Q: Is it your first car?
A: No, it is my second. I used to own a BMW 320i but I traded it in to get this one.
Q: Why do you like it?
A: Because it is beautiful, easy to maintain, comfortable and light on petrol. It is fast but also balanced, so it doesn’t feel like it’s floating when big vehicles overtake it.
It also has a great sound system and it has never disappointed me. I go everywhere I want without worrying about petrol or traffic on the road.
Q: What features do you like most?
A: All its features are standard.
Q: What do you want to change on your car?
A: I want to put on new mags and install a set of new and powerful speakers inside.
Q: Why did you choose white?
A: White is beautiful. It is also a low-maintenance colour.
Q: Is this your dream car?
A: No, my dream car is an Audi Q7 but I still love this one.
Q: Have you driven your car on any long trips yet?
A: Oh yes, I been to Botswana and North West many times. I also drive around Gauteng a lot.
Q: Do you get traffic fines?
A: Yes, I got one not long ago for a worn tyre. I have to pay that ticket soon, but otherwise I am a very cautious driver.
Q: Would you allow another person to drive your wheels?
A: Yes, but only my brother Pule, my cousin Thato Mohlodi and my beautiful one-and-only girlfriend Rosina Taolo.
I trust them because they are good drivers. Too many people will break my car and vanish, leaving me to repair it.
Q: What do you think of other drivers on Mzansi roads?
A: I think women and minibus taxi drivers need to improve.
They should realise that the road is shared by all drivers and that they don’t own it.
They’re always in a hurry and make dangerous mistakes, and never give other road users a chance.
