There’s R20 000 to be won by the truck driver who is the best!

Road safety is an fundamental part of transport operations and with this in mind, MasterDrive, with TruckX, launched the hall of fame to honour the top commercial truck drivers.

Eugene Herbert, managing director of MasterDrive, a top driving academy, said traffic accidents cost Mzansi about R300 billion annually, so driver behaviour influences risk management.

“By working to improve the levels of road safety and encouraging drivers to set good examples to others, accident rates could be greatly reduced,” he said.

The aim of the hall of fame is to recognise and reward drivers who obey traffic regulations; who drive responsibly and safely; and who set good examples for their peers and other road users.

“Employers at transport companies need to nominate the men and women who they rely on to always drive safely, courteously and responsibly. We want to recognise and reward those heroes.”

Drivers inducted will be awarded certificates at the TruckX 2017 Conference and Expo to be held on 12 and 13 July at Kyalami Race Track, in Joburg. The driver judged the best by MasterDrive wins R20 000.
