WE HAVE heard of Isofix mentioned as part of a vehicle’s safety features, but what does it mean?
What is Isofix?
Isofix is a safety measure designed for baby and toddler car seats and constitutes the international standard for attachment points for child safety seats. The points are metal clips at the top and base of a vehicle’s seat. They look and work the same in all cars.
How do Isofix points work?
They anchor child safety seats directly to the car instead of using seat belts. The child safety seat needs one Isofix attachment at the top and two at the seat’s base, one at each side.
When was Isofix unveiled?
The Isofix system was first introduced by Volkswagen in 1997.
