The new Toyota Corolla has a lot of minor and major changes to the interior and exterior.

Toyota kicks off 2017 with a sleeker Corolla model, which also celebrates 50 years of the model’s existence.

In its latest version, the updated Corolla features changes to the exterior front and rear-end and interior modifications to give it classier feel. There are three trim levels and four engine choices.

The most notable changes are at the front where there are new designs to the grille, headlamp clusters and bumper – some models get LED lights as well.

There are changes to the rear too, while the interior features better quality materials and the instrument panel has been updated with a layered structure that hides joins, a redesigned climate control panel, and circular air vents.

As for the dashboard, a piano-black centre-cluster surround and chrome-look trim have been added, and in Prestige versions the width of the sound system’s touchscreen display has increased in size from 6,1 to 7-inches.

The engine line-up remains unchanged. It features a choice of a 1,4 litre turbodiesel and three petrol engines which include a 1,3-litre, 1,6-litre and 1,8-litre petrol units. All engines are fitted with six-speed manual gearboxes, while certain versions are also available with an automatic gearbox.

Toyota has also upped the Corolla’s safety features, while some more work has been done to improve noise levels.

All models are well-equipped and even the entry-level Esteem version gets a Bluetooth connection, air conditioning and power steering.

The Prestige Corolla comes with leather trim and alloy wheels to name a few, while the range-topping Exclusive mode also features goodies such as climate control and rain-sensing wipers.

What’s more is that all Corollas are covered with a five-year/90 000km service plan and a three-year/100 000km warranty from Toyota.
