MORE ABOUT CAR FEATURES

accreditation

Often you’ll see terms in SunWheels articles that describe certain features on vehicles we test or write about. Here are four terms we often use.

Auxiliary input

This connecter allows media players or smartphones to connect to a vehicle’s entertainment system – usually a standard auxiliary cable with a jack and port on the ends.

Lane departure warning system

A system of electronic components designed to warn a driver when her or his vehicle drifts out of its lane.

Parking sensors

Button-size sensors, fitted in the front and/or rear bumpers, measure the vehicle’s distance to nearby cars and other objects. The sensors alerts the computer which warns the driver using sounds, lights or a monitor.

One-touch windows

Vehicle windows with a change-over switch that is capable of automatically rolling the glass completely up or down with a touch.
