It seems the world can’t get enough SUVs!
So BMW has expanded its SUV line-up with the all new X2.
BMW will launch the X2 in March next year when it joins BMW’s X1, X3, X4, X5 and X6 family. It fits above the X1.
Like the X4 and X6 versions, the X2 has a daring design that is more sporty than the traditional offerings of the X1, X3 and X5.
Eye-catching design features include bold exhaust tailpipes, elegant side skirts, a rearward sloping roofline and smooth contours.
There is also the prominent, rounded BMW grille as well as additional BMW badges just behind the rear passenger windows.
BMW claims the X2 has a claimed luggage capacity of 470 litres, which can be increased by folding the 40/20/40 rear seats forward.
Like the X1, on which the X2 is based, BMW offers two-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive on the X2 with a choice of turbopetrol or turbodiesel engines.
BMW said just two engines will be offered in South Africa: the sDrive20i and xDrive20d.
The front-wheel-drive is powered by the sDrive20i petrol engine. It is fitted with a seven-speed Steptronic dual-clutch gearbox.
The xDrive20d turbodiesel comes equipped with the xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system and features the eight-speed Steptronic gearbox.
Three trim levels will be offered and they are Basic, M Sport and M Sport X.
The M Sport and M Sport X specification levels come, as standard, with M Sport suspension.
M Sport suspension has firmer spring and damper settings, but also a lowered ride height, while the optional dynamic damper control system allows the suspension settings to be adjusted to individual road conditions or the driver’s preferences.
