Toyota has given its popular 86 sports coupé an upgrade!
The 2017 model range now offers revised suspension and a stiffer body for more agile and precise handling. It also has improved aerodynamics for smoother airflow. And off course, it looks sharper inside and out too!
However, Toyota has left the 86’s renowned and powerful 2,0-litre power train under the bonnet.
Design changes at the front include a lower nose, a wider but lower-set grille, a distinctive lower lip on the front bumper and a subtle new nose fin. There are also updated bi-LED headlights, with the indicators moved from the bumper to inside the headlight clusters.
At the back, you’ll notice redesigned tail light clusters with LED indicators, while a wing-type spoiler with vertical end plates replaces the previous boot-lid spoiler.
Toyota has improved the 86’s cabin interior too: it now features a new, smaller steering wheel with satellite controls for the multimedia system. The multimedia system is linked to a 10,7 cm multifunction display, which not only shows all usual trip data but also more performance-focused driving details such as a G-force monitor, power output and torque curves, as well as a stopwatch and the lap times in sequence.
Another change is an all black interior trim, while the fabric trim on the standard model has been upgraded for better lateral support. The High version gets a revised trim in mixed leather and Alcantara synthetic suede.
Toyota has also stiffened the 86’s body which has resulted in added weight but the bonnet is now made of aluminium and the wings of thinner sheet steel to compensate.
The 86 comes with a three-year or 100 000km warranty and a four-year or 60 000km service
