IT SEEMS like it was just last month when the MasterDrive’s TruckX conference took place, but the next thrilling truckers’ meeting is already around the corner.
This year’s TruckX is just over a week away and will be hosted at a new venue this year – Kyalami Grand Prix circuit – on 12 and 13 July, and promises to bring a truck load of new experiences.
The programme is going to be action-packed, engaging and unforgettable.
Visitors can anticipate the opportunity to try their hand at different trucks as test drives will be available, while they can also get ready to watch the Man race truck and CEO Challenge.
A major draw at TruckX will be the opportunity to see the rollover prevention truck in action as well as the reveal of a new mid-commercial or C1 truck, which will be used in a specialised driver-training programme.
The rollover truck is scheduled to give visitors a practical demonstration of exactly how it works at four different times throughout each day.
According to the managing director of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, the truck has an extra set of outrigged tyres – long pylons with tyres at the ends.
“This allows truck drivers to feel at what point a truck reaches its tipping point. This is definitely a spectacle worth seeing with your own eyes.
“MasterDrive is expanding the outrigger idea to their mid-sized commercial vehicle or C1 trucks training programme.
“We first fitted a Hino training truck with outriggers so training drivers can also feel the turn limit of these trucks while carrying cargo of different types and weights. It is important for drivers to understand how various loads can and do affect their handling.”
The conference part of the exhibition promises to offer a hands-on approach to issues affecting truck and fleet industries.
