ALL bike riders have dropped their bikes at least once or twice!
Lebogang Matsemela from Pimville is no exception, but luckily she only suffered minor injuries.
She dropped her bike just after she finished her eighth lesson at King Donut Bike Academy.
She said she believed it was important that all bikers get professional lessons on riding before hitting the road. The lessons can help minimise accidents.
“A bike is a convenient and affordable way for me to get from point A to B. Before a trip to Limpopo, I spend R150 to fill my tank once and it is enough to get me to my destination.”
Q: When did you start riding?
A: In 2013.
Q: What bike do you ride?
A: Suzuki Boulevard 800cc.
Q: Is it your first bike?
A: No, my second one. I owned a Suzuki Intruder before this one.
Q: How often do you ride?
A: Mostly on weekends.
Q: How far have you ridden?
A: I have ridden to Polokwane more than once.
Q: Does your bike have a nickname?
A: Yes, I named her Beauty after my late grandmother. I named her so that every time I travel on the road, I know she is always with me.
She’s the one person of my family who is closest to my heart.
Q: Why did you choose such an outfit?
A: In most cases I dress up to be comfortable and safe, so I prefer a leather jacket and a pair of jeans.
Q: What do you think of other road users?
A: I think we all have bad habits as bikers and motorists. We do what we want as long as it makes us happy. There are many times road users change lanes without using any signal to warn others, which is why we end up having so many accidents.
