KWID CROSSES OVER!

accreditation

Renault is giving its best-selling Kwid the extreme treatment! Renault has added a limited-edition model to the Kwid line-up, called the Xtreme.

This trendy French crossover, which has a ground clearance of 180 mm, is one of the most affordable cars locally and more than 700 Kwids are sold every month in South Africa. Its popularity is thanks to its keen pricing, funky design and array of standard features.

Furthermore, it has a high driving position offering greater visibility making it ideal for zipping around and despite the Kwid’s size it offers a spacious cabin and boot space of 300 litres.

Now, the spiced-up Xtreme derivative adds more flair to the range and will boost its reputation even more.

In Xtreme guise the Kwid gets a more eye-catching look with a special exterior styling pack, which includes extra chrome treatment around the grille, lights and boot lid and trendy 14-inch alloy wheels.

For a true SUV look, the Kwid Xtreme also boast sporty black roof rails and a set of black plastic mud flaps.

The Xtreme model is based on the Dynamique derivative which means it comes packed with standard features such as aircon, electric front windows, power steering, a multimedia system with Bluetooth functionality and unlike any car in its segment it even comes with satellite navigation!

And, with the Xtreme version you also get rear park distance control to guide the driver into even the tightest of parking spots, and doors which automatically locks at 20km/h, for added security.

Under the Kwid Xtreme’s bonnet is a perky powerful 1,0-litre petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Though this engine is tiny it has been optimised for power and performance and pushes out peak power of 50 kW at 5 500 r/min and maximum torque of 91 Nm at 4 250 r/min.

It also offers good fuel consumption, with Renault claiming an average figure of just 4,7 litres per 100 km.

Safety is catered for by a driver airbag, although there are no ABS brakes. As is the standard across Renault’s entire product range, the Kwid Xtreme comes with a five-year/150 000km mechanical warranty with optional service plans available.
