THANKS to a wedding he once attended, Paul turned into a lover of bikes.
Paul Molale from The Hill, extension 8, in Joburg, said the wedding of his niece was like no other wedding he’d ever attended. Held in Kroonstad, Free State, almost all the guests came on bikes. And this turned Paul into a biker too – his first bike was a Boulevard MM 109 he bought soon after the ceremony.
Q: What bike are you riding now?
A: It’s a Harley Davidson V Rod Muscle. I bought it in October 2015. I traded in my first bike.
Q: When did you starting biking?
A: I started in 2013.
Q: Can you tell us about your first ride?
A: It was amazing. I did not know much about bikes so I went to see King Donald, a bike instructor, the founder of Soweto Pathfinders MCC and principal of the Soweto Motorbike School.
Q: Why this bike?
A: It’s fast, powerful and comfortable.
Q: Do you have a licence for it?
A: Yes, I have a licence.
Q: How often do you ride?
A: Every weekend I’m on my bike.
Q: Have you got any traffic fines?
A: No, I’ve never got a fine. I ride carefully every time.
Q: Tell us about your outfit?
A: It is very expensive but worth it: the head wrapper cost me over R3 000, gloves R1 500 and jacket R8 000.
If you want to be a biker you must be prepared to pay this much for your safety.
I wear only Harley Davison stuff because it is quality. Even if the sun is sizzling hot, as a rider, I don’t take off my outfit while I’m riding.
Q: Have you ridden any long distances?
A: Yes, I went to Welkom.
Q: Why did you choose maroon and black?
A: It’s a unique but amazing combination.
Q: Anything you want to change?
A: Nothing at the moment.
Q: Do you belong to a club?
A: Yes, the Soweto Motorbike School.
