IF DRIVERS followed the rules of the road, all of us would arrive home safely.

Tshepo Makhavhu, from Tshifhulanani
Village in Thohoyandou, Venda, said: “Some drivers are reckless – they overtake on a solid line.”

Tshepo, who was born in Diepkloof, Soweto, and drives a Golf 5 GTi, also said speeding leads to loss of life.
Q: When did you buy your car?
A: I bought it two years ago.
Q: Is it your first car?
A: No, it is my sixth. All my cars are still in good condition.
Q: Why do you like this one?
A: It’s beautiful and easy on petrol, good on long distance trips, comfortable, reliable and easy to drive. It has never broken down and stranded me on the side of the road. Other cars’ windows fog up when it rains but this one has an element built into the glass that warms up and gets rid of the fog. It saves me time and I get a better view of the road.
Q: What other features do you love about your wheels?
A: I love all the features. They are standard but are beautiful, although I did change the rims.
Q: What else will you change?
A: Nothing. It’s perfect as it is. If it’s not broken why fix it?
Q: Why did you choose black?
A: Black is beautiful!

Q: Is there anyone else who can drive your car?

A: Yes but only my wife Masala can drive my cars. Other people won’t treat our cars as gently as we do. We don’t let others borrow them.

Q: Is this your dream car?
A: Not really. My dream car is a Mercedes Benz AMG C20, but owning that won’t stop me loving this one.
Q: Have you driven your car on long distance trips yet?
A: Yes, many times. I’ve driven to Cape Town, North West, Gauteng and Mpumalanga.
Q: Do you get traffic fines?
A: Not at all. I’m cautious behind the wheel.
Q: What do you think of other drivers in Mzansi?
A: Drivers should follow the rules of the road. That will reduce the many accidents and road rage we have.
