Meet the new Ford Fiesta!
Ford unveiled four versions of the next-generation Fiesta, and they are the five-door Fiesta Titanium, the Ford Performance-inspired Fiesta ST-Line, the three-door Vignale and the crossover-styled Fiesta Active.
Ford describes the new Fiesta as the “most technically advanced small car in the world”, with “standard-setting refinement, craftsmanship and upscale interior materials”.
Apparently the driving experience has improved significantly and the carmaker claims it should offer a more premium ride.
Many have said the Fiesta Active is aimed at Volkswagen’s popular CrossPolo.
Ford has played it so the design is simplified, with straighter lines and less messy surfaces, to deliver more visual strength.
On the front, sleek headlamps offer a new wrap-around effect that is immediately recognisable, while the side profile is more settled and less sharp and wedge-shaped.
It is longer and wider which gives the Fiesta a fuller appearance.
Inside, the latest Fiesta has a more upmarket appearance too. Ford reduced the number of buttons on the centre console by almost half, with many connections and entertainment controls moved to the 8-inch touchscreen display.
Rear seat passengers benefit from more knee room, supported by new slim-back seats too.
The Fiesta’s tailgate is also wider for easier access to the boot with improved storage for personal belongings.
There’s a larger glovebox and a 1,0-litre bin in the centre console.
There are new engines too and the Fiesta’s 1,0-lite EcoBoost engine will be offered in three power variations.
There is a new three-cylinder 1,1-litre petrol engine and a 1,5-litre diesel engine.
Ford South Africa is expected to launch the new Fiesta range here only in early 2018.
