The Volkswagen Golf is no stranger to hatchback designs but it is finding the battle in the market getting tougher.
Although a hatchback class leader, VW is determined to keep its place by introducing an updated Golf 7.
While VW altered the design of the headlights, grille and tail lights slightly, there are many other engineering and technology improvements as well.
SunWheels tested the new Comfortline model which features an impressive 1,0-litre turbopetrol engine.
VW deserves a thumbs up for this engine as it is punchy but only uses 4,7 litres of fuel every 100km.
Its 1,0 TSI powertrain is quiet with a six-speed manual gearbox that delivers power smoothly – making the Golf 7 good for open road cruising as well as driving in city traffic.
Inside, the Golf 7 has a smoother and more comfortable ride than many of its competitors. While the cabin size and boot space are impressive, the quality makes the Golf 7 the best in its class. It has a premium feel while being packed with all the comfort and luxury features.
For safety, it has seven airbags, ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist and stability control with traction control.
There are also many optional extras such as leather trim.
