THE Salaweshe Stokvel releases its members from daily stress.
These women enjoy being the only three members because it gives them enough time to discuss whatever situations are happening in their lives.
Nunu Ngobeni (25) told SunStokvel: “At first I hesitated to join the other two because I thought they were joking, but after a long discussion, I accepted.
“This is a place to be if you want to save money and have a smooth life, especially when one is going through some rough times.”
She said the reliable and trustworthy three-strong stokvel started in 2012, in phase 3 Mamelodi, Tshwane.
She said they didn’t meet once a week like other stokvels because they met whenever they need to – especially when they wanted to discuss a problem.
Nunu said they sometimes visited at a member’s place and taught each other new ways to cook and raise children rather than focus on money issues.
Gingirikani Manganyi (24) said that without Salaweshe she was nothing and that the other members’ support had lifted her spirits when she felt there was no way out of the poverty trap.
“Since becoming a member I have leant a lot about cooking. Today my family can’t wait to be served one of my well-cooked dishes,” said Gingirikani.
The three members said the thing they enjoyed most when together was listening and dancing to Xitsonga traditional music.
