THE FACTS

ZANELE Mahlangu from eMalahleni, Mpumalanga applied for an iPhone 6 contract phone with 64 gigs of data from MTN Direct on 3 November.

The contract was approved but a week later they delivered the incorrect phone. She did not sign for it and requested its return.

She called MTN and they promised to send the correct phone but they never did. Since then, she has contacted the company many times without any success. When she sends emails she is told the matter has been escalated to the supervisors but nothing happens.

In December, R449 was deducted which she reversed but in January, they deducted R949 which she also reversed. Now her number has been blocked and she can’t make any calls.

WHAT I DID

I spoke to MTN to investigate and to help Zanele.

SOLUTION

Xolo Zulu from MTN told Zanele the contract has been cancelled and she was refunded R1 456. She was very excited about the outcome.
