THE FACTS
VERNON van Wyk from Eldorado Park, south of Joburg lost a leg in a car accident and claimed from the Road Accident Fund.
The fund paid him a sum of money and bought a prosthetic leg for him. But he can no longer use the leg as it causes him pain. He came to the SunDefender hoping to get help to claim more money to help with his difficulties.
WHAT I DID
I spoke to the fund and explained Vernon’s situation. I asked for his claim to be re-opened.
SOLUTION
Thandeka Ngwenya from the fund said that for confidentiality reasons, Vernon would have to contact the fund directly. They will advise him on his options.
