THE FACTS

SOLANI Baloyi from Pimville, Soweto said his mother had remarried. The permit for the house in which the family lived showed his mother and his stepfather as the tenants.

After his mum died his stepfather changed the permit by adding his own kids and leaving out Solani and his siblings, now threatened with eviction.

WHAT I DID

I spoke to Scorpion Legal Protection.

SOLUTION

Solani, as a child of one of the owners of the home, has a right to the house and cannot be evicted in terms of the law. The other children also cannot be kicked out without a court order.

Solani may have to ask a lawyer to help him fight the eviction.

Solani has to visit the deeds registry office to find out whose name is on the title deed.

You can strike back legally too!
