MUM QUERIES CLAIM AFTER DAUGHTER'S ROAD ACCIDENT

accreditation

THE FACTS

Elizabeth Moletsane from Rockville, Soweto, said her daughter was bipolar and while in hospital, tried to escape. She was critically injured when she drove her car into a Rea Vaya bus.

Elizabeth wanted to know if she could still claim from the Road Accident Fund.

WHAT I DID

I spoke to Boniswa Matshoba from the fund.

SOLUTION

Although the client was diagnosed as bipolar, it was not possible to determine whether that caused the accident. To successfully lay a claim, a person involved in a motor vehicle accident must prove another driver was at fault. If the injured person is solely responsible for the accident, a claim will not succeed.
