THE FACTS
Mmitja Ramaphosa from Reiger Park, Boksburg, Gauteng worked for Renewal Panel Beaters for five years before she was retrenched.
She claimed her provident fund money but she was very unhappy when she was paid only R2 000.
She came to the SunDefender asking for help to find out if the money she had received was supposed to be so little.
WHAT I DID
I spoke to Andries Schoeman in the membership liaison department at the Motor Industry Fund Administrators.
I asked him to check their records to see if she was paid the correct amount.
SOLUTION
Andries confirmed that benefits of R11 368,09 and R2 599,92 were paid to Mmitja in 2008 and 2010.
Mmitja raised a complaint with the Pension Funds Adjudicator in 2010 but the ruling in favour of the fund was made in 2012.
