LYDIA ACCEPTS EXPLANATION

accreditation

THE FACTS

LYDIA Molokwane from Alexandra, northern Joburg, worked for the Post Office until she was fired in 2013.

According to her, she never received her provident, surplus and pension funds.

Lydia said she applied for all her funds money and she doesn’t know what’s causing the delay.

She came to the SunDefender asking for help.

WHAT I DID

I spoke to Louise Swanepoel, a complaints officer at Sanlam
Insurance, and she promised to investigate.

SOLUTION

According to Sanlam’s records, Lydia has been an active member of the Post Office Retirement Fund.

Before December 2013, the
retirement fund was administered by Old Mutual.

Sanlam contacted Old Mutual, which confirmed that Lydia was a member but her membership ended in 2013 when she was dismissed.

The full benefit in terms of the rules was paid to her by Old Mutual on 29 August 2013.

The provident fund of the Post Office is currently administered by Old Mutual.

Old Mutual said Lydia was not a member of the provident fund of the Post Office and no surplus benefit is applicable.

Should she require more information on this matter, she should contact Old Mutual directly.

Old Mutual also called Lydia and she confirmed that she was satisfied with the explanation given.
