LUTHER STILL OWES CASH

accreditation

FACTS

LUTHER Godfrey from Brits in North West said he received a garnishee order f rom Bayport in 2013.

This is a legal n otice that al lows a c red itor to recover funds from a debtor by means of a deduction from their salary.

He claimed he had paid off the full amount as set out in the order, but that he was now being told that he owed more money.

WHAT I DID

I wrote to Bayport to find out why they were still claimin g money from Luther.

SOLUTION

Bayport said the em ployer had paid only the main amount stated in the garnishee order and not the interest.

The garnishee order also included interest that had accumulated over the period of time it took for the main amount to be paid off.

The money Bayport is now claiming is the interest incurred.
