THE FACTS
ISAAC Mothapo from Primrose, Ekurhuleni says he was hit in one of his arms by a stray bullet.
The injury affected his day-to- day life and he was forced to apply for a grant.
He received the grant on the basis of permanent disability from 2004 until 2013, when his grant payments stopped without any warning.
When he went to renew the grant he was told that he does not qualify, although he is still disabled.
WHAT I DID
I spoke to the South African Social Security Agency to find out why the payments had been stopped.
SOLUTION
Sassa spokesman Boitshoko Molamu said that Isaac had never been the recipient of a permanent grant.
He applied for a temporary disability grant in September 2015 which was awarded to him for a period of six months.
The grant lapsed and Isaac reapplied for it later, but this time the application was re-jected. Isaac was advised to reapply.
