THE FACTS

Daniel Sekati of White City, Jabavu, Soweto said he sold his house in 2013 and in the same year, approached agents to buy another house. The agents sold him a house in Protea Soweto for which he paid R250 000, but to this day he has still not received the house that he paid for. He said several meetings have been held with the agents and the supposed transferring attorneys but nothing has been done.

WHAT I DID

I spoke to Scorpion Legal Protection to find out what Daniel’s rights are.

SOLUTION

Complaints can be lodged with the Estate Agents Affairs Board as well as the Law Society. These complaints will assist in having the matter finalised. Another reason the complaints should be lodged is because the money paid to buy the property is supposed to stay in the attorney’s trust fund until the transfer has been completed, not with the agent.

You can strike back legally too!
