THEIR social club helps them to fight poverty.
The members of Sivane Magaza Club from Phomolong, east of Mamelodi in Tshwane, are happy to be part of this club.
They said they were no longer worried about where and when their next meal would be coming from because Sivane has become their source of life since 2012.
The seven women told SunStokvel: “Since the club started our struggles to get jobs and money are over. We are now stress free.”
They said that each member contributes R300 every week and gives it to one member.
The women sell fruit and vegetables so they can now afford to take their children to school as well as buy them food and clothes.
“Since we joined the club our lives have changed for the better. We now look forward to celebrating Christmas,” said the women.
Anna Ngobeni said since her husband died in 2008, the club has been her pillar of strength and hope.
“I have managed to support my four children and they are going to school without any complaints,” she said.
Flora Baloyi said she was not married but the club had given her confidence and enough support to take care of her three children and four grandchildren.
She said they respected and treated each other as sisters.
