Khethi Ngwenya is the managing director of School-Media.
Recently, the young man was named one of the youngest top 30 entrepreneurs by Forbes Africa.
Growing up in Soweto and Alberton, he started as an entrepreneur aged six, when he started selling hair products in his uncle’s shop.
When he was 12, he had his own stall, selling firecrackers and dry goods.
He joined the Soweto Business Chambers organisation – YES (Young Entrepreneurs of Soweto) at the age of 15.
This is where he was first introduced to the formal business world. A year later, he was elected as the CEO of YES. Khethi’s passion is to develop communities.
The founding of his company, SchoolMedia, in 2010 was followed by the Going Green Project he started in 2011. The project has so far educated 100 schools on environmental awareness and planted 4 500 trees in schools in South Africa.
